The 6th annual bike safety fairs will be held this weekend in Issaquah and Bellevue, held by the
Optimist Club of Issaquah & the Eastside.
Focusing on the importance of bicycle safety, free events will be taking place from 12:00pm-3:00pm for fun experiences the whole family can enjoy:
Obstacle courses
Children can bring their own bicyles and participate in an obstacle cource, get free bike tune-ups, register their bike. There will also be face painting and resources for adults regarding education, recreation, safety and health.
Helmets
While supplies last, there will be free bicycle helmets for children who do not have one or whose families can't afford one. The
Bellevue and
Issaquah Police Department will be present to help with proper helmet fittings.
Pedbee
Bellevue's pedestrian mascot Pedbee will be at the Bellevue location to teach children about bicycle safety, having the correct equipment, road rules and how to handle their bicycle correctly.
Food Drive
Thsose who attend are asked to bring donations of non-perishable foods for younger children (ie canned fruit, juice, peanut butter).
