Boat Capsizes In Puget Sound, Four Boaters Rescued With Hypothermia

Four Washington State residents were pulled out of the chilly waters of Puget Sound on Wednesday evening, March 31, after their watercraft capsized near Redondo Beach in Des Moines.

South King County Fire and Rescue reported that the four boaters, two men and two women in their early 30s, had problems with the drainage plug on their 25-foot motorboat which sunk the vessel just after 7 pm. All four people were wearing life jackets at the time of the Washington State boat accident. The boaters were in the water for about 20 minutes before rescue workers reached them. A Redondo beach witness called 911 when they witnessed the boat accident.

The WA boat accident occurred about 0.25 miles from the beach. Emergency responders treated all four for mild hypothermia at the scene before they were released, while their boat was towed to shore.
