Construction site fall prevention initiative

Did you know that falls from one level of a construction site to a lower level was the second most common cause of workplace deaths nationally, according to a recent OSHA report?  Transportation accidents was number one.  Nationally, 13 percent of workers, or 733, died in such falls last year.

Back in my home town of Philadelphia, "The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has joined the Steel Erectors Association of Metropolitan Philadelphia and Vicinity Inc. and the Iron Workers Local Union 401 in a program to promote workplace safety and health and provide training, with a particular focus on fall prevention."

Here in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington, we see a lot of construction of buildings and high rises even with the downturn of the economy.  Workplace safety for the guys who work on the steel beams and floors under construction on a daily basis should be the most important consideration for construction companies.
