Kent elementary schools will be seeing some changes before their first day of school, reports King 5 News.
Kent police will be adding new flashing lights at crosswalks and intersections to alert drivers of school zones to three elementary schools in Kent- Kent, Scenic Hill and Meadow Ridge. After these improvements, 13 of the 28 elementary schools in Kent will have the flashing lights.
Currently, only 85% of elementary schools in the State of Washington have the flashing lights at their intersections and crosswalks. With hopes of installing these attention-grabbing signs to 100% of the state's elementary schools, The Washington Traffic Safety Commission is providing funds to schools all over the state.
