The News Tribune reported the driver of an August 3 fatal car accident has been charged on Monday with vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of a deadly accident when his vehicle split in half and left his ejected passenger mortally injured.
According to charging documents, Ryan Bogue, 18, was eastbound on 112th Street E. in Buckley when his vehicle reportedly slid off the road and into a power pole in the 29000 block. The impact of the crash was strong enough to rip the vehicle in half and throw Traevon Norton, 17, to the side of the road. He was pronounced dead just minutes after respondents first arrived.
Bogue was found soon after at
St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw with injuries to his hands, arms and face. He told investigators he'd consumed three beers and had swerved to avoid three deer that were in the roadway. When his blood was drawn and analyzed, alcohol, THC and commonly found substances in prescription depressants were found. Also found was a bottle of whiskey on the driver's floorboard.
When
Washington State Patrol detectived downloaded airbag control system data from the crashed car, it showed the vehicle was going 57 miles per hour when it crashed. Only seconds before, 86 miles per hour. The psoted speed limit is 35 miles per hour.
