Mercer Island Targeting Underage Drinking | Mercer Island Injury Attorney

King 5 News reports the city of Mercer Island is working on an ordinance to discourage underage drinking by putting Mom and Dad in trouble.

Under the ordinance, The City of Mercer Island is proposing a $250.00 to parents, even if the underage drinking is taking place at their residence and under their supervision.  Property owners where underage drinking is caught taking place would also receive the $250.00 fine.

The desired outcome of this ordinance is to reduce underage drinking and increase the incentive for parents to keep a closer eye on their children's behaviors.

Derek Franklin of Mercer Island's Youth and Families Department says "We're all about saving kids' lives, that's why we're bringing it to council."
