Nordstrom pays civil penalty for selling dangerous and defective clothing, Seattle

Seattle

Nordstrom will pay to settle claim

Nordstrom Inc. will pay a $60,000 civil penalty to settle allegations it knowingly failed to properly report the sale of children's drawstring jackets and sweaters to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that had declared such clothing dangerous and defective more than a year earlier.  The strings pose a strangulation hazard for children, and the CPSC has had guidelines against them.
