King 5 News reports that Thurston, Pierce, King and Snohomish county officials' presence will see an increase over the next three weeks. Extra patrol will be out looking for speeders while participating in "Target Zero," a program aiming to reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries as a result of car accidents to zero by 2030.
If caught speeding in Thurston County between July 15 and August 7, you will be given a photo of William Johnson. William died last October after speeding caused him to lose control of his vehicle in Olympia.
Police say 40% of Washington State fatal car accidents involve speeding.
