In order to avoid cutting Metro Transit funds in King County, it is possible to see $20 added to car tab fees, reports King 5 News.

Car owners in King County could have the $20 addition to their car tabs over the next 2 years. A $60 million deficit is plaguing Metro Transit and they may need to reduce bus services to make up the difference.

King County Executive Dow Constantine is bringing this matter to the King County Council on Monday, looking for approval of the hike. If 6 of the 9 council members agree, the increase will be approved. If not, the matter may go before the voting public.

Without the $20 increase, we could see cuts to Metro Transit as high as 17%. This would be similiar to eliminating all King County bus services during rush hour or over the weekends.
