West Seattle Father Blames Negligent Owner For Son’s Dog Bite

A concerned father believes that a negligent dog owner is responsible for his son’s dog bite injuries.

The dog attack took place in West Seattle on Saturday, October 23, when 5-year-old Yusuph Hassan was standing outside with his sister and waiting for his mother after taking Islamic cultural classes on 34th Street and Morgan. The big black dog ran up to the children, bit Yusuph, and was then chased away by an adult at the multipurpose building where the classes were held. His dog bite wounds required a trip to the hospital and stitches.

The boy’s father says that the dog has been wandering loose for several weeks because of a negligent owner and that a number of children and families have complained that the dog has been frightening them and chasing them. The dog has been turned over to King County Animal Control. It is unclear if any citations have been issued against the dog owner, or if the Hassan family will file a dog bite injury lawsuit.
