As reported by the Seattle Times, a woman in her 60s required the Seattle Fire Department's rescue after crashing down 10 feet to the bottom of an elevator shaft. The woman was exiting a handicapped spot on the 3rd floor of the parking garage at the Virginia Mason Medical Center on 9th Avenue and Seneca Street when instead of reversing she moved forward. When she moved forward, her vehicle crashed through a wall.
The elevator shaft did not have an elevator in use. It was an empty shaft built in to accommodate for future growth of the parking garage.
The woman was surprisingly not injuried.
