Tacoma News Tribune reported that two 16-year-old Yelm girls were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries on September 29th, 2009.  According to Washington State Patrol the teenager was driving 1985 Oldsmobile northbound on Morris Road just south of 110th Avenue in Yelm in Thurston County when she crossed the center line and hit a 2003 GMC box type truck head-on.

The Associated Press identified the two teenagers as Skye Calhoun, the driver and Alexandria Bachmeier, the passenger.  The driver of the GMC, 43-year-old Matthew L. Benson of McKenna, wasn't injured.
