At-fault insurance co says I must bring my car to their preferred body shop for inspection. Is this true?
I want to bring my car to a body shop I trust. That shop says that the at-fault insurance co can inspect car at my preferred shop and they do it all the time. But at-fault insurance co says they will only inspect at their preferred shop. Which is true? Also, I had to visit emergency room and was treated for whiplash. Should I keep my claim open until all medical bills come back? Insurance co. wants to settle quickly and just give me a check before bills come back for emergency visit, meds, etc.
You can take the car to your shop of choice and then the at fault insurance company should work out an agreed price to repair your car. And while your car is in the shop, they should pay for a loaner car.
Don't settle your injury case now. It's too soon. Normally, we don't even try to settle our client's cases until they are completed with treatment or have returned to pre-accident status if possible.
