Boat operator pleads guilty to three deaths on Nisqually River

Another tragic boating accident on the Nisqually River between Pierce County and Thurston County resulted in the death of three passengers who were thrown overboard.  Cameron McCartney, 9; his younger brother Sean McCartney, 5; and Bryan L. Pierce, 32, all drowned after the boat capsized on a logjam.

The Olympian newspaper reported on November 24, 2008 that Vincent Farler pleaded guilty to three counts of homicide by watercraft for being under the influence of alcohol when he capsized a boat on the Nisqually River June 12, 2008.  Farler and the McCartney boys' mother, Erin McCartney, were able to make it safely to shore.
