Three different baby and infant products were recalled this month - a bottle warmer, a baby hammock, and a baby crib. Two of the recalled products have already resulted in serious injuries.

Bottle Warmers and Baby Hammocks Recalled After Injuries

Posted on Sep 21, 2010

Are your infant and baby products safe? This month there were three important recalls of defective child products, both of which were released after child accidents and injuries.

•    The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled about 11,000 Beaba Express steam bottle warmers sold by Williams-Sonoma in June and July of this year both in-store and through their catalog. The company received ten complaints of liquids and baby food being heated to dangerous temperatures – with one adult reporting a finger burn from the infant product.
•    Dangerous infant hammocks manufactured by MamaLittleHelper, LLC, are being recalled by the CPSC after three reports of unbalanced hammocks that could trap the baby’s against the mattress, causing a suffocation risk. An estimated 500 baby and toddler hammocks were sold between may 2008 and February 2010 on the company’s website.
•    A voluntary recall of Sorrelle brand Prescott cribs has been announced by the CPSC because of fears of entrapment and fall injuries. According to the company, the mattress’ supports can bend or break, causing the mattress to fall into dangerous positions. One child has died as a result of being suffocated by the mattress. The cribs were sold by Albee Baby online from July 2009 to October 2009. They were originally labeld with Simplicity tags – a baby product that was recalled earlier this year for similar reasons.

In all of the above cases, call the CPSC for more information on the recall or visit their website. You should also contact the manufactuer of the product (or the company that sold the product) on further instructions on how to fix your defective infant product or on how to receive a refund.
