Bull Mastiffs Corner Woman Just Weeks After Mauling Seattle Boy

Posted on Dec 30, 2010

Two bull mastiffs that were implicated in a Washington State dog attack earlier this month are yet again being held by Seattle Animal Control after a woman says that the aggressive animals attacked her puppy and then threatened to attack her.

The woman, who only called herself Michelle, was walking her dog Pepsi in a southeast Seattle park when the two bull mastiffs attacked her pet. After her dog escaped harm, the dogs turned on her and cornered her. Before she was actually attacked, the dogs owner appeared and called the dogs off.

The dogs were returned to their owner just days before following a serious dog bite incident that occurred on December 4. In that dog attack, a 10-year-old boy suffered severe injures from the same animals. According to the Seattle Times, the Washington boy used a recycle bin to climb a neighbor’s fence in order to retrieve a ball from the back yard. The dogs attacked the boy, leaving him with wounds on his head, throat, and arm. In the wake of the dog bite incident, the boy spent days at Harborview Medical Center and has multiple plastic surgeries to prevent scarring and disfigurement.

Because the owner had “beware of dogs” and “no trespassing” signs on the fence, and because the boy had entered the fenced property, Seattle Police found that the owner of the dogs was not responsible for the attack and that it was no more than an accident. However, neighbors say that the dogs have been an ongoing threat in the neighborhood and that many people fear they will attack again.

Following the second dog attack incident, the animals are once again being held by Animal Control. As of yet, the fate of the dogs is unknown.
