Two people were killed and over 20 people were injured in a bus rollover accident on I-90 in Cle Elum that also involved two other vehicles. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the fatal bus accident and looking for any witnesses that were in the area at the time of the deadly crash.
According to the Daily Record News, the bus accident took place Sunday evening, May 29, as a busload of soccer fans were returning from a game in Seattle. The bus driver, who was not injured in the crash, saw a broken down pickup truck in the right lane and switched to the left lane in order to give the truck more room. However, the bus merged into a car, which was forced off the road. The bus overcorrected, struck the pickup truck, and rolled onto its side.
Killed in the crash was a married couple, 51-year-old Ciro R. Astudillo, 51, and 45-year-old Virginia Ocamposoriano. Twenty-one other people were injured, including a woman and her daughter who were in the car forced off the road and the man who was standing next to the stopped pickup truck. In addition, a number of other bus passengers were injured, from minor injuries that were treated at the scene to more serious injuries that were treated at several nearby hospitals.
