A man will likely face trespassing charges after a Seattle dog attack that left him with serious injuries in December 2011. The fate of the four pit bulls involved in the animal attack is not yet clear.
According to the Seattle Times, a Seattle homeowner awoke to commotion outside in the property’s dog run and discovered that his four pets were attacking an intruder. The owner stopped the dog attack, placed the animals in a kennel, and placed the injured man on a handcart. Once on the street, the owner flagged down a passing car and asked for emergency medical assistance for the trespasser.
According to Seattle Police, the intruder will likely be charged with trespassing. He was treated at a Seattle hospital for puncture wounds, head injuries, and arm injuries that were serious but not life threatening.
The dog owner has cooperated fully with police. The dogs were properly fenced at the time of the Seattle dog bite incident. They were also properly vaccinated and licensed. The four pit bulls will be quarantined following the attack to rule out a rabies infection and other issues, though it is not clear what will happen to the dogs after that time period. It is unclear whether any of the dogs have a history of aggression or biting.
The Seattle dog attack took place at around nine at night after the intruder scaled at ten-foot fence. Seattle Police stressed that the man was on the property illegally and that the dogs were protecting their property and blameless for the attack.
