Details of the Accident

According to the King’s County Sheriff’s Office, the bus was going up a hill when another vehicle was coming down the hill, and the bus driver may have given the other driver too much room and gone off the side of the road.

One elementary school student was reported to have suffered a sprained wrist in this Issaquah school bus accident. The other 16 students and the driver were not reported to be injured. There were also no reports of a crash or injuries in the vehicle that was traveling down the hill at the time of this accident.

Washington State Bus Accidents

While the injury reported in this Issaquah school bus accident was reportedly minor, not all Washington school bus accidents have the same outcome. Just days after this crash, several students were hurt in an Eastern Washington school bus accident and, according to the 2012 Washington State Annual Collision Summary, there were 1,209 vehicles involved in bus collisions during 2012. The statistics are not broken down for school buses specifically, but it is important to note that three of the collisions were fatal and 348 resulted in injury.

We extend our best wishes for full and fast recoveries to all Washington students were recently hurt in bus crashes on their way to or from school.
