A Washington man with a long criminal past was arrested for drunk driving in Seattle after crashing his car and leaving the scene with his two young children.

Seattle Drunk Driver Crashes Car, Runs With Two Kids In Tow

A drunk driver with an extensive criminal history has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run, reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended license following a one-vehicle accident in South Seattle on Wednesday. After the drunk driving accident, the man allegedly pulled an infant and a toddler out of the car and ran with them.

According to the Seattle Police and the Seattle Times, 40-year-old Dante Piggee was driving while intoxicated at around 3 p.m. on 12th Avenue when he crashed into a parked car and flipped his own vehicle. Witnesses then saw the man take two children from the wreckage and flee from the scene of the car accident.

Seattle Police caught up with the man about a block from the accident scene. The man had dried blood on his nose and was acting drunk and suspicious. Police officers said that he had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol, and had difficulty answering questions. A half-hour after the accident his blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit and he had difficulty completing the field sobriety tests.

Piggee has a long criminal history that includes 50 different charges since he was just ten years old. His criminal history includes a second-degree murder charge as well as several assault charges.

Piggee was released from the King County Jail on $10,000 bail this weekend and is awaiting trial. The Seattle City Attorney’s Office attempted to raise his bail to $100,000 and bar him from seeing his children during this time.
