According to local news sources, a fatal traffic accident occurred in the early morning hours of June 9, 2013, in Roy, Washington. The Washington State Patrol reported that a car carrying three people ran off of the road at approximately 3:45 a.m. while driving on Route 507, injuring two people and killing a third. The car was progressing down the two-lane highway when the driver lost control of his vehicle, ran off of the right side of the road, and struck a tree.

The driver of the car, 22-year-old Joshua Brake of Toledo, was taken by ambulance to Madigan Army Medical Center for treatment, while passenger Anthony Hill, 22, of Olympia, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center with serious injuries. The third man, 26-year-old Beau Dawson of Seattle, was also taken to St. Joseph Medical Center but later died of his car accident injuries.
Police are still investigating the fatal accident but believe that excessive speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver as authorities collect evidence and wait for the results from blood work.
About one in three fatal car accidents in Washington State involve alcohol. Many of these crashes take place late at night or in early morning, and many of these crashes also list speeding or reckless driving as a factor.
