Sequim Man In Coma After Fall Accident At Home

Posted on May 23, 2011

A serious fall accident and injury in Sequim, Washington, reminds us that even short falls can lead to critical injuries.

According to the Sequim Gazette, 21-year-old Jesse Morgan fell just a few feet to the floor but landed hard enough to suffer a traumatic brain injury. Morgan was visiting his grandmother’s home on Easter Sunday when he was playing with his cat in an upstairs room. When reaching for the car he lost his balance and fell, striking his head on a hard concrete surface.

A medical helicopter flew the young man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remains in critical condition. Family members told reporters that he has undergone surgery to reduce the swelling in his brain and that he remains in a coma. The uncle of the man reported that the fall victim may need a ventilator and may be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life. On the other hand, he also reported that Morgan had responded to a command to squeeze his brother’s hand.

Neighbors have already pooled together a few hundred dollars so that Jesse’s family can rent an apartment in Seattle and be at his side as he struggles for his life.
