
It was a deadly weekend for car accidents in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, with six people losing their lives in traffic accident on Sunday alone.
In Mason County, Washington, three men lost their lives in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to Washington State Police, four men were driving on Highway 3 after three in the morning when the driver missed a turn and ran off of the road, striking a tree. The three passengers, 22-year-old Bryan Blackburn, 20-year-old Daniel Tedder, and 20-year-old Tyler Jankunas, all died at the scene of the car accident. The driver, a 20-year-old Port Orchard man, was seriously injured and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
In Pierce County on the same day, a woman lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway on I-5 outside of Tacoma. The woman, 51-year-old Toni Spaulding, was killed in the crash after her vehicle became airborne and slammed into an overpass. In Lynnwood, a man riding a motorcycle was killed when he was involved in a crash with an SUV.
In yet another fatal traffic accident, 44-year-old Ellen De Bondt of Port Angeles was killed on Highway 112 in Clallam County on Sunday morning when a car driving the other direction crossed the centerline of the highway and slammed head-on into her car. The woman who struck the pickup truck, a 24-year-old Port Angeles woman, is being charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
