Three-vehicle crash in Stanwood shuts Highway 532

A crash involving three vehicles closed Highway 532 and resulted in a man being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with possible life-threatening injuries, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The accident occurred on November 5, 2008 at 12:14 p.m. at Sunday Lake Road.  A commercial truck driven by a 53-year-old Spanaway man was traveling westbound when it struck the rear of a Buick LeSabre driven by a Lynnwood woman. The force of the rear-end collision pushed the Buick into oncoming eastbound traffic. The Buick was then struck by a Ford Ranger pickup driven by a 60-year-old Stanwood man.

The woman driving the Buick and the commercial truck driver that rear-ended her were both transported to Providence Everett Medical Colby Campus with injuries. The Buick's passenger, a 44-year-old man from Carson, was flown by helicopter to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center for emergency treatment.
